Technical Designer

The Technical Designer plays a key part in the fabrication process by translating designer specifications into a project's necessary drawings. The Technical Designer assists the Technical Director and the Design Manager by managing scenic construction and design projects alone or with a team.

 

Job Responsibilities:

· Construct 3D models based on concept design renderings and drawings

· Prepare project drawings from 3D models created during the preliminary design process

· Creating required drawings for any given project including overview, construction, mechanical, installation, and shipping drawings

· Select or actively participate in the selection of construction techniques and material choices for assigned projects

· Perform site surveys when necessary to ensure that accurate venue data is available for use in a project's drawing package

· Prepare and execute CNC and Cut Files

· Provide technical support to the shop floor

· Update and revise drawings to accurately reflect finished product based on modifications made during fabrication

· Collaborate within Design Department to meet deadlines

Qualifications
• Demonstrated proficiency with Fusion 360. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks is a plus
• Excellent drawing and design skills
• Familiarity with industry safety standards
• Thorough, up to date knowledge of set construction technique and materials
• Ability to work under pressure
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
